Massive performance, unique technologies, excellent execution of the unique show inspired by local culture and Tatarstan’s national festival ‘Sabantui” as the most colorful part of regional traditions. That’s how Sport Producers approached the KHL All Star Week 2019 in Kazan.
“The Academy of Hockey Sciences” was the key concept (theme) of the KHL Players Presentation – the first event of the weekend.
Digital stage decoration together with scientific proof and comedy style presentation. Demonstration of the physical, chemical, geometrical and even geological nature of the player’s success made a great impression on all guests, including Rene Fazel, Dmitry Chernyshenko and Rustam Minnikhanov.

All pre-shows are meant to impress spectators at the arena and TV audience. But it’s quite an uneasy task to stage something that’s never been done before. KHL Skills Competition: 400 dancers on ice without skates, supported by mapping and light show. It has never happened at the ice hockey events before! And on top of that, players introduced by the announcer one by one entered the ice surrounded by dancers and cheered by thousands of spectators. Unique mass-communication systems implemented in Russia for the first time specifically at the All-star Week allowed us to provide one of the brightest shows ever and a great opportunity for the marketing partner. Watch how it went “Boom-boom-boom”!

Next day – next challenge. Another triumph of technologies and Sport Producers’s presentation capabilities is the pre-show of the KHL All-star Game 2019. The so-called “Kabuki drop” normally used at different presentations and music concerts was scaled to the size of the: a blackout screen 160x13 meters surrounded the ice rink from the catwalks to the boards and 600 specially designed “kabuki-locks” were used to spread out and then drop down a screen over 2000 sq.m in size.
This was a totally new interpretation of 3D-mapping in hockey shows when the surface changes several times during the performance.
As such a show was performed for the very first time, Sport Producers had to think out each and every detail – starting with the material laying, players secret entrance under the screen and how to make the screen-curtain disappear unnoticed from the ice during the live TV feed.

10 minutes of the Pre-Show was not the only objective - three more hours of sport production at one of the world’s most dynamic games was meant to keep the spectators’ impression of sport and show combined: best announcers, best hockey DJ, talents performing from the ice and from the stands, motion graphics and video content and even one of the players - Matthew Mayone singing a song and playing guitar…
Perfect coordination, innovative technologies, creative minds – that’s why KHL 2019 All-star Week stepped up to a totally new level. Exactly where it should be.
