This year FIL World Championships opening ceremony was organized at the Rosa Khutor Town Hall Square. The event featured a parade of the athletes, welcome speeches by President of the International Luge Federation Josef Fendt and President of the Russian Luge Federation Natalia Gart, but the culmination of the ceremony was a concert of “UMA2RMAN”.
Three days of competition, all disciplines, the best athletes of the world. For the first time after Sochi 2014 Olympic Games several thousand people visited the luge-bobsleigh track in three days.
Between races, there were various activities at the Entertainment Square, such as tubing down a giant snow hill, snow target shooting range, floorball games, and snowman-building contests.
For those who stayed at Rosa Khutor live broadcasts of competitions were organized on the big screen. Here, award ceremonies took place every evening. According to the established Olympic tradition awarding of the athletes should happen at Medals Plaza. Before and after the ceremony at Medals Plaza played DJs and performed cover bands and artists.
